Microsoft has shipped the second preview version of SQL Server 2008. Redmond says the product will be released in the second quarter of next year.

Microsoft plans to make a big deal about the release, launching SQL Server 2008 at a gala in Los Angeles with Windows Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 next February. You won’t be able to get your hands on it for several weeks after that, though.
